Solo Traveling: Why you should do it

I'm gonna start off with my first solo trip ever! Well kind of.

The good thing is, that I was never really afraid to travel alone. It always seemed to be an adventure to me and later I found out that it definitely IS an adventure that only YOU will experience in your very own way and in the way you want it.

Already when I was like 14 years old I traveled from Vorarlberg to Vienna, which means: 8 hours by train through Austria.

It was only to visit my brother, so I wasn't alone in Vienna anymore. Still, I would say that was a glimpse of traveling solo.

Now, let's start with my REAL first solo trip. Everyone else was more concerned than I was. My family and friends and also everyone else I knew was thinking I'm crazy to travel alone.

Still, that couldn't stop me from doing it.

I packed my backpack, needing a few tries to squeeze everything in there and off I went.

It was a tour through Europe, to be precise I traveled from Austria across Switzerland to Italy, France and Spain for a whole month all by myself.

But was I ever alone?

NO, unless I wanted to be alone.

During this month, I met so many people from all over the world, experienced so many great things and also a few that were not that good but that made me smarter and stronger.

Especially walking outside in a foreign city when it's dark can be scary and yes, there are people - especially guys in my case that start talking to you.

What I did is simply continued walking and ignored them. Sometimes it also helps to look or act aggressive ;)

And I never had any problems with that attitude so far, it worked out great and I hope it will also work out that great for my next solo travels.

The best thing for me personally about solo traveling is, that you can do just what you want, when you want and how you want! There's no one else who "messes up" your plans and you will feel so relaxed and free.

If you feel alone just be open minded and talk to people, or mostly they will also start talking to you. The ones who travel alone always meet the most people and if they want to, also travel buddies, even if it's only for a day or less. That's all up to you.

Stay in Hostels and join the free food nights or free walking tour or just eat in the common area and you will meet so many people and have a great time.

There's definitely no reason to be scared to travel alone because you will realize: The world is full of solo travelers!

Start your own adventure and enjoy!
